How do I join the library?

A library card is needed to borrow books or use the computing facilities (you are welcome to browse our books or study in the library without a membership card).

Current students and staff at James Watt College can join the college library and borrow books for free. Members of the public can join for an annual £20 membership fee.

Current Students

The joint matriculation and library card is available for students to pick up from any library site by bringing one passport-size photograph and we will make up your card on the spot.

Members of the public

External users (those who are not students or staff of the College) need to bring:

  • proof of address (e.g. driver's license, utility bill)
  • a passport-sized photograph
  • £20 membership fee (cash only).

All library cards are valid only for the current academic year.
