James Watt College is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Derek Little to the post of Chairman of the Board of Management.
The Board elected Derek as Chair following Drew Duncan’s decision to step down from the role earlier this month. Dr. Little has served as a Board Member since 2008 and is a long term supporter of the College.
Following his appointment, Derek commented: “I’m extremely pleased to be elected as Chairman of the Board of Management for James Watt College. As we tackle the many and varied challenges facing our College and the sector as a whole, I look forward to working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Aside from his Board position at James Watt College, Dr. Little is a Lecturer and Researcher at Strathclyde University, where he works in the department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering.
James Watt College Principal Sue Pinder said: “This appointment is fantastic news and we very much look forward to working with Derek as we move forward. The team, as always, hopes to act in the very best interests of the learners, staff and the wider communities we serve in North Ayrshire and Inverclyde. With Derek chairing the Board of Management, we anticipate a fresh chapter for the College. I now look forward to finding the best path ahead, together with Derek Little and the other Board Members.
“With the Scottish Government’s regionalisation agenda, this is a period of significant change for the college sector in Scotland. I wish to assure staff and learners that we are continuing to work closely with our partners in Inverclyde and Ayrshire to achieve our favoured option of a West of Scotland merger, involving all of the current James Watt College campuses.”
