Student Life at James Watt College
Being a student means much more than just education and training. The college also has an active and lively Student Association, set up to help students make the most of their studies and also enjoy themselves in the process! The Association arranges social events, trips abroad, fund-raising and campaigns on issues affecting student life.
Membership
Membership of the Student Association, which is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS), is voluntary and those who choose not to be members will not be unfairly disadvantaged. National Union of Students (NUS) Website
Student Presidents
Each year, the students elect two part-time Student Association Presidents for the two areas covered by the college - Inverclyde and North Ayrshire. At present, the Association is co-ordinated by Geraldine Shambach, the elected Student President for Inverclyde, and Clare Lydon, the elected Student President for North Ayrshire.
Both Presidents are based in their respective Learner Support Centres, on a full-time basis, at the Finnart and North Ayrshire campuses, and are also available at the Waterfront and Largs campuses.
